The chapel of St. Anthony of Padua in Bolinawan, Car-Car

Image
This is the San Antonio de Padua Chapel located in Bolinawan, Car-Car, Cebu. It is dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua and is operated by a family. It was believed to have been founded in the mid to late 1800s. My dad always went to this particular chapel as a boy.                                                  The interior of the chapel with San Antonio                                                The blogger with the image of San Antonio

A Pilgrimage to Talisay, Cebu

Image
Here are some of the photos of my pilgrimage to the Saint Teresa of Avila Church in Talisay, Cebu, as well as that of the WW2 landing site in Cansujong Beach. I dedicate this pilgrimage not only to Saint Teresa but to the Catholics who served in World War II. Eternal rest grant upon them Lord, and let the Perpetual light shine upon them,  May they rest in peace, Amen.                                                             The Facade of the church                                                  Pedro Calungsod, Cebuano martyr of Guam                                        Lorenzo Ruiz, one of the martyr...

The American Civil War from a Catholic perspective

Image
Union soldiers attend Mass The American Civil War lasted from 1861 to 1865 and was fought between the Union and the Confederacy. What the popular culture and the mainstream media want you to think is that the Union were heroes while the Confederates were villains. They will tell you that the Union and President Lincoln fought against the Confederates who wanted to defend slavery while the Union wanted to free the slaves. The opposite is true. The South and the Confederacy did not fight for slavery. They were fighting for freedom and independence against Union tyranny. Even Pope Pius IX paid homage to the Confederacy. While it is true that Confederates abused slaves, there was even more slavery in the North rather than in the South! The North (Union) was not racially tolerant and th...

Ninoy Aquino, the Marxist

Image
NPA means New People's Army, a communist terror group in the PH  To all my foreign readers: What follows is a brief refutation of the communist activist Benigno ''Ninoy'' Aquino, praised by the Novus Ordoites in the Philippines who is similar to the communist activists Martin Luther King Jr. in America and Nelson Mandela in South Africa. This is non-political and only analyzes Filipino history from a Traditional Catholic perspective. Martin Luther King was revealed in a picture to be attending a communist training camp and Nelson Mandela was pictured with the Marxist salute.  Once upon a time, on Sept. 21, 1972, ''Dictator'' President Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law on the Philippines, which allegedly did human rights violations similar to the military dictators of Latin America around the same time (In fact, Marcos declared Martial Law to save the PH from communism)....

St. Joseph, March 19

Image
Prof. Plinio CorrĂȘa de Oliveira There is not very much biographical data about St. Joseph. We know that he was from the royal dynasty of David. He was a virgin, he was married to Our Lady, they remained virgins after marriage. He was present at the Manger at Christmas. He journeyed with the Divine Infant and Our Lady to Egypt and returned. After that, there is silence about him. St. Joseph, Our Lady and the Christ Child on the flight to Egypt by Fra Angelico What is the beauty of the silence of Holy Scriptures regarding St. Joseph? What facet of the spirit of the Church shines in this silence? St. Joseph was the greatest saint, or one of the greatest saints of the Church, since some sustain that either St. John the Baptist or St. John the Evangelist would be the greatest saint. In any circumstance, there are very good reasons to suppose that he, St. Joseph, was the greatest saint. One would expect to find an abundance of edifying biographical material about so great a saint. But the op...

The Journey of An Icon

Image
Dear Friends, I want to tell you two fictional stories which I made about two Russian icons that have influenced both the Catholic protagonists of my story. I have an icon of Our Lady of Kazan which I keep. I dedicate the stories to Fr. Alexander Kryssov -Ryan Pierre's story: My name is Pierre from France, I am a Catholic and enlisted in Napoleon's army (Napoleon III, nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte) during the Crimean War. On September 8, 1855, the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady, I fought at the Battle of Malakoff in which it was a decisive French victory against the Russian Empire. My favorite war trophy was a Russian icon of Our Lady of Kazan which I took from the headquarters of the Russian generals. I took the icon back home to my family chapel, where my confessor, Abbe Joachim (Abbe is a title for priests in France) said the mass in front of the icon. In his sermon, he said that it was good for an icon made by schismatics to finally fall into Catholic hands. I was promo...

The OAD Tabor Hill shrine in Cebu

Image
The OAD Tabor Hill is a Catholic shrine of St. Rita of Cascia in Talamban, Cebu City run by the Discalced Augustinians. It was in that shrine, known as the Chapel of the Holy Relics I first learned about the Traditional Latin Mass via one of their pamphlets. However, at the time, I was not interested in it due to it being far away from my place. However I started learning about the Traditional Mass only in late 2019 through the website learnreligions.com. On March 1, 2020, I attended my first Latin mass on the first Sunday of Lent there in the Chapel of the Holy Relics. It was an Indult Mass. I only discovered pre-Vatican II teaching only in 2022 and sedevacantism in 2023. It includes a shrine to the Ecce Homo, the Holy Trinity and the stations of the Cross. Here is the gallery:                                                   The shrine to St. Rita on top ...
