The Retraction of Jose Rizal

                                                                   


It is said that Filipino hero, Jose Rizal, known for his novels Touch Me Not and the Reign of Greed is said to have died a Catholic, the faith he grew up with. He was known as a member of the propaganda movement which one of its members were Juan Luna, a painter and notorious Freemason Marcelo H. Del Pilar. The Propaganda Movement was influenced by Anti-Catholicism, Freemasonry and Liberalism. When Rizal was still young, he made a statue of the Sacred Heart, which would later be presented to him before his execution. He was also have said to have designed a Catholic Church in Mindanao. Before his execution, he denounced Freemasonry and Liberalism, condemned by many popes, and gave a copy of ''The Imitation of Christ'' to his wife Josephine Bracken. His last words before the firing squad was ''It Is Finished'', the last words of Jesus Christ. May his soul rest in peace.
