  Note: This article is not an offense towards Koreans. I even have a holy cards of the Korean Catholic martyrs like Andrew Kim Taegon, the first Korean priest in my altar. It is just like a conservative American Christian criticizing the degeneracy and immorality of American Hollywood stars.   The Himno ng Reconquista (Hymn of the Reconquista) also known as  Mosunod kami kanimo, O Pelayo (We will follow you, Pelayo) is a militant poem by Antonio Jose Rubi about the Spanish Reconquista and its heroes, like King Pelayo at Covadonga, the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, the conquest of Granada, Rodrigo Vivar (El Cid) and his wife Dona Jimena, and the Reconquista heroes of the Philippines, Father Agustin de San Pedro, Datu Salangsang, Alejandro and Catalina Santos, Father Jose Ducos, Fray Julian Bermejo and Pedro Kabanlit. The hymn invokes Cebuano national pride, inspired by their ancestors to resist the tyranny of the modern world.   Saint James in Compostela, Northern Cebu Just recently I just found out that my ancestors were King St. Ferdinand III of Castile (he is a patron saint of Liloan, Cebu) and Emperor Alexios I Comnenos through my maternal Spanish ancestry. I know that I am related to Charlemagne and Lapu-Lapu through my ancestry coming from Spain and Mactan as well as that of Carlist during the Third Carlist War. According to research, the European monarchs have many descendants including many non royals because they entered the local nobility and then to the low class. I remember when my dad would stop at Compostela to fix a property dispute, he would always stop me and my mom at the parish church of Compostela, dedicated to Saint James.   Catalina ang bulahan (Catalina the Blessed) is a poem about the heroine Catalina Santos (1655 - 1727) regarding her heroic deeds of defending 17th century Cebu from Moro raids. It invokes her fight against the Moro Ali Pagtuga in 1670, and as well as invoking her against the modernist West controlling the Philippines. It compares her with heroes like Datu Daya of Bantayan, a pre-colonial Datu of Cebu who fought against Moro pirates in the medieval era, as well as Dona Jimena, the wife of the knight El Cid, and Queen Isabella I the Catholic.   The fortress of Fray Bermejo in Bolhoon used to fight off the Moros By Antonio Rubi Written for the feast of Saint James the Great Everyone, especially traditionalists know the Crusades, about knights in shining armor fighting the Mohammedans in the Holy Land. From Pope Urban II, Godfrey of Bouillon, Richard the Lionheart, Saladin, and King St. Louis IX. For every parent especially in the United States or in the West, this article is for you. But what is less known is that there were also crusades in my country, the Philippines during the Spanish era, notably as an offshoot of the Spanish Reconquista which ended in 1492.  The Philippines was conquered by Conquistador Legazpi in 1565, and conquered Manila in 1571, where the Spanish fought the Mohammedan Rajah Suleiman. There is also the 1578 Brunei war between the Spanish and the Sultanate of Brunei also known as the Castilian War.                                      At last, the first color portrait of Dona Catalina Santos (1655 - 1727) has been made. It was done by the daughter of my mom's friend. Dona Catalina stands as a forgotten, but unbowed heroine, who fought for Cebu, the Philippines, Spain and the Catholic Church. She may have fought Moro pirates in the past, but now fights alongside her husband Alejandro (1643 - 1701) and Fray Julian Bermejo (1777 - 1851) against the modernist and corrupt West which removed Christ and devotes itself to secularism. While the Disney Princesses have a hundred thousand fans here in my country, Catalina's fans are only a small remnant who are ready to defend the faith.  By Antonio Rubi Everyone knows the Walt Disney Company, how it was founded in 1923 and started with a mouse in 1928, and everyone knows it compromised since Disney died and as a result of Vatican II and modernism, it succumbed to bad teaching. But did you know that Disney was one of the main factors in making me traditionalist Catholic? When I was a toddler, I grew up with many things Disney. I liked watching their cartoons, and enjoyed their characters, specifically the Princess characters. I watch various Disney shows, but I only appreciate two, Snow White (1937) and Alice in Wonderland (1951). The rest of the Disney shows were watched through an educational program and through books, and some of the movies I would not see until I was 18 years old.  I would like to tell you that today, July 14, 2026 is my 20th baptism anniversary. Unlike most Filipino youth who were baptized in the Novus ordo sect in the Philippines, I was baptized by an Old Catholic bishop (my mom thought he was Catholic at the time) named Bishop Jean Marie Kozik. For me, I felt that studying in so called Catholic schools would make me more Catholic, and that I will learn many Catholic heroes there. Turns out I was wrong. In fact, I would learn many Catholic heroes at home through websites like Tradition In Action, and that the ''heroes'' promoted in Catholic schools here in Cebu and the Philippines were Marxists and ''human rights defenders'' promoted by the communists in the Philippines.   Today, April 28, is the anniversary of the finding of the image of the Santo Nino, one of the most revered images in Filipino Christendom. On April 28, 1565, just as when Legazpi landed in Cebu City in order to claim it for Spain, Juan Camus, a Basque soldier in Legazpi's army found the image in a destroyed hut, which was blown up when Legazpi bombed the area as a result of the hostile natives. He is said to have declared, ''For Holy Mary, I found the Son of God.'' The image was later given to Legazpi and the Augustinian friars in the expedition, a church was later built on the spot where the image was found. The current structure of the Santo Nino church where the image was found was built in 1740, with renovations after World War II and the 1965 400th anniversary of the Santo Nino's founding.   Hello there. I am taking a hiatus from blogging for a while, especially that there has been no traditionalist priest visiting our house, and I have other works to do, especially the topic I am doing many things aside from praying the rosary. The artwork I am showing you is an artwork of an OC (original character) I made. She is a Filipina character for an upcoming project I am using to make a story set during the Spanish colonial era. The reason why I set most of my stories during the Spanish colonial era (1565 - 1898) is because most Disney Classic stories are set during the past and not modern eras. As a young boy, growing up in Cebu City, because of the Spanish and American influence here in my country, I grew up with Disney cartoons and the Santo Nino devotion as a toddler. The traditional values of both old Disney and folk Catholic devotion made me inseparable for me, ( remember 500 years in a convent and 50 years in Hollywood) especially Disney was trusted as a safe film company by pre-Vatican II Catholics because it contained no immorality.   The image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help was one of the first icons I was exposed to From a young age, even before I turned one years old, I was already exposed to the Byzantine rite of the church. My exposure would later help me admire the Byzantine Eastern rites as a Latin rite Catholic. St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow My first exposure to the Byzantine rite was when I was 10 months old in Feb. 2007 in which mom bought me a book about historical landmarks featuring Mickey Mouse. I can still remember I memorized the Statue of Liberty, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Eiffel Tower and Leaning Tower of Pisa, and Mount Rushmore, which was one of the places I visited as a baby. But most of all was a segment of the book featuring St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, Russia.
